Zone d'Accès Public. It means Public Access Zone, or hotspot in English. A ZAP is a place where people can connect to the Internet with their portable computer or any other machine equipped with a WiFi device. Every ZAP connection is and always will be free.

ZAP Québec simply wants Québec to become a wireless city, where you can find many free Internet hotspots, to make it a better place where it is always nice to live, work or visit.
Our volunteers are not waiting for the government (municipal or provincial) to promote big and costly projects. They are working now, with simple and low-cost technology, using the Internet connections already in place, with the help of small shops, restaurants, corporations and institutions all over the city.
ZAP Québec is a not-for-profit organization, entirely volunteer-based, with very low operation expenses and a passion equal to none.
We strongly believe that technology can be used to bring people together and make them contribute greatly to new community projects. In order to achieve this, ZAP Québec will be using its extended network of hotspots to promote user interaction, to show the original work of local artists using all sorts of media and finally publish local information that matters to smaller communities in the city.
